Vanuatu's oldest English senior secondary school, Malapoa College, is to receive a major facelift with plans for US$9 million worth of renovations paid for by China.
A Vanuatu Government delegation led by the Minister of Education, Alfred Carlot, has just signed a contract with China Northeast Architectural Design and Research Institute in Beijing.
When completed the school will cover a bigger site than that occupied by the University of the South Pacific's campus in Port Vila.
It will include seven two storey buildings, three teachers' apartments with 24 classrooms, eight science laboratories, a staff room and library.
Malapoa College was once called the British Secondary School and was where the children of the workers in the British administration were educated during the colonial era from 1906 to 1980.
