The 25 had been detained but were released after completing their prison terms.

Along with four stranded citizens and a baby, they were escorted to the Batas Border Post last Wednesday and handed over to the PNG West Sepik Covid-19 Team.

PNG police say the repatriated citizens are currently undergoing quarantine in a Vanimo hotel, paid for by the government.

After 14 days they'lll be released back into the community.

The police say the next batch of people to be repatriated from Indonesia is likely to be 13 students in the coming week.
