Search continues after shooting at hospital

A shooting last night at Taranaki Base Hospital will continue to affect out-patients and visitors as the police continue their search for the shooter.

The police were told of gun shots at about 9:30pm and discovered a man with injuries to a leg in the hospital's Tukapa Street carpark.

He is now being treated at the hospital.

They said he had been in an argument with a group of men, who left ther scene.

They believe the parties were known to each other.

The DHB said people were able to come to the hospital safely, but there may be restricted entry to some buildings and reduced carparking at Tukapa Street.

Some oupatient appointments may be postponed or relocated.
