21:12 pm on 7 August 2011

Police in Christchurch have appealed for witnesses following an indecent assault in the city on Sunday.

They say a woman in her early twenties was running in Hagley Park at about 11am, when she became aware of a man running near her.

She left the park, and headed onto a cycle track near Wroxton Terrace where the man assaulted her.

Police say the woman screamed and the offender jumped into a property bordering Plynlimon Park before heading off through the park towards Idris Road.

The offender is described as European, aged 19 to 20, of thin build and with hairy legs.

He was wearing a white t-shirt, black knee-length shorts, and running shoes.
