4th arrest in Savile investigation

20:05 pm on 16 November 2012

Another former BBC employee is accused of sexual offences.

Dave Lee Travis, 67, a music presenter, was arrested at 7.45am on Thursday at his home in Buckinghamshire, on suspicion of sexual offences.

He was on Radio 1 for 25 years, until 1993. He also presented editions of Top of the Pops in the 1970s and 1980s.

He now presents The DLT Show, a radio programme on the Magic Network, which is owned by Bauer Media.

The BBC reports the arrest is the fourth so far in connection with the investigation into the late Sir Jimmy Savile, a Radio 1 DJ and a household name in the 1970s and 1980s.

Metropolitan Police say their investigation has so far recorded 200 accusations about sexual assault by Savile and others.

Former pop star Gary Glitter, 68, was the first person to be arrested. Entertainer Freddie Starr was the next on 1 November.

On Sunday, former BBC producer Wilfred De'Ath was arrested on suspicion of sexual offences.
