The England international had slotted 44 of her 48 attempts before falling heavily late in the third quarter after a big contact with another player as she was driving out for a pass.

Fisher hit the court, and was crying in agony as the game was halted for a few minutes so she could be helped off the court.

The Southern Steel said her left knee would be medically assessed in the coming days.

Steel coach Reinga Bloxham gave her side a pass mark after dominating the New South Swifts 74-42 but the game would have left a bad taste in her mouth with Fisher looking in a bad way, a month out from the start of the ANZ Premiership.

Fisher took a break from international netball with England over the last international window but the door remained fully open for her to represent the Roses again.

The visitors were forced to field an invitational line-up of the club's young talents after Covid struck all bar one of the Swifts' senior players just 24 hours before they flew to New Zealand on Friday.

The Swifts also borrowed some local Southland based players to make a full team.

The pre-season tournament also includes the ANZ Premiership defending champions, Te Wānanga o Raukawa Pulse, who the Steel will play tomorrow.
