Fiji has recorded 38 cases of meningococcal disease so far this year.
Of these 20 have been confirmed by the lab but 18 are suspected based on clinical signs and symptoms.
Health authorities have begun administering preventative antibiotics to students and staff of Navesau Adventist School in Tailevu, after six cases of the disease were diagnosed.
The Ministry of Health is aware private pharmacies have brought in vaccines and work is underway to prevent any price gouging.
