Farmers urged to get quad bike licence

14:01 pm on 22 August 2011

Two organisations committed to reducing the number of farm accidents from quad bikes are encouraging all farmers and their employees to study for a licence.

Farmsafe, in association with Agriculture ITO, launched the idea of a quad bike licence, following revised guidelines from the Labour Department.

Farmsafe national manager Grant Hadfield says there's a need to change people's attitude to quad bikes through training users in safe riding practices.

Mr Hadfield says all users of quad bikes, no matter how experienced, can benefit from studying for a licence.
