20:15 pm on 10 February 2014

The Vanuatu government has appointed a former general manager of the Reserve Bank, Odo Tevi, as the country's new ambassador to the United Nations in New York.

Mr Tevi has no diplomatic experience but our correspondent reports the government believes he wil learn on the job.

It has also renewed Roy Mickey Joy's role as Vanuatu's ambassador to the European Union.

Mr. Joy has been serving in this role in Brussels for the past six years.
