From the seminal works of Pavement to the recent albums with The Jicks, Stephen Malkmus has continued to write intelligent, oblique and cutting tunes, making him one of the most astute lyricists of his generation. Music 101 sent Samuel Scott (The Phoenix Foundation, Bunnies on Ponies) to meet up with Stephen when he was in New Zealand for shows recently.
