Prisoner escaped from Auckland police station

Police are warning the public not to approach a prisoner who has escaped from the Auckland Central Police Station.

They say Heath Matehare escaped at 11.20am on Friday.

The 30-year-old from south Auckland is described as Maori, about 183cm tall and of solid build.

He was last seen wearing dark jeans, a white long-sleeved T-shirt, with a black T-shirt over the top which had white writing on the front.
