Residents of two Otago towns will have to continue boiling or conserving water over the weekend.
The Central Otago District Council said fluctuating chlorine levels in Patearoa's water supply in the Maniototo were being monitored.
It said until the levels stabilised, residents should boil water for drinking, washing, preparing food and baby formula and for cleaning teeth.
Ranfurly residents were also asked to conserve water after recent heavy rain.
The council said although the water plant was producing clean water again, there could still be spikes of dirty water.
