Basketballer Jack Salt has made history by becoming the first New Zealander to win the the United States' NCAA men's college basketball final.
Salt and his University of Virginia Cavaliers beat Texas Tech 85-77 in overtime in the match, in Minneapolis - although Salt a former student at Auckland's Westlake High School had limited court time collecting just one rebound in his five minutes on court.
Jillian Harmon is the only other New Zealander to have made the finale of college basketball's major showpiece, with Harmon making the women's final with Stanford in 2008.
Former Tall Black Kirk Penney reached the final four of the NCAA competition with Wisconsin in 2000.
