Pieces of the historic QEII athletics track have been donated to the New Zealand Spinal Trust for auction this week.
Christchurch City Council says the more than 100 pieces are on TradeMe until Friday.
The council's recreation and sports unit manager John Filsell says they include the exact spot where Dick Tayler famously fell triumphantly on his back after winning the 10,0000 metre race at the 1974 Commonwealth Games.
However, the entire finishing line, which was recovered intact, will be presented to the city.
Demolition of most of the QEII Park Recreation and Sport Centre is to begin soon and will take about 18 weeks.
