Infant formula maker A2 Milk has moved to cool speculation it is about to get official approval to sell its products in the US.

Australian media reported that A2 was within days of getting FDA approval to be able to export into the US, where there has been a massive shortage.
"While we have been informed by the FDA that our application is under active review, at this stage there is no certainty as to the outcome of the application or the timing of any approval," the company said in a statement.
The company's shares spiked between 8 and 12 percent on the New Zealand and Australian stock exchanges before a trading halt was put in place.
Australasian dairy companies have queued up to restock empty shelves in the United States with baby food, after the country recently relaxed its import policy to mitigate one of the biggest infant formula shortages in recent history caused by contamination.
But barring Bubs Australia, which has already shipped baby food to the US in several batches, others such as Fonterra and Bellamy's Organic have been stuck in the approvals process.
Two weeks ago Fonterra said stocks set aside for the US were being sent to other markets.
