A draft bill said people convicted of child pornography-related offences could be fined $50,000, while businesses would face a $200,000 penalty.

The Fiji Times reports that if the bill is passed, authorities could search and seize any suspected computer, data or device of any person or business.

The bill would also compel telecommunications providers to provide the identity, address, phone number and payment information of any customer, if ordered by a court.

According to the proposed Bill, child pornography is described as "a person who intentionally takes, distributes" materials that exploits children for sexual stimulation.

The Bill also requires telecommunications service providers in Fiji to provide the identity, postal or geographic address, telephone number, billing and payment information of a customer if ordered by the court.
