The homeside was stunned by goals from Thomas Muller, Miroslav Klose, Sami Khedira and Toni Kroos who got 2.
Klose is now the record holder for goals scored in world cup finals with 16.
The Netherlands and Argentina meet in the other semi-final on Thursday morning.
