Chemical explosion at Northland school

One home has been evacuated after a chemical explosion at a Northland school.

The Fire service's shift manager Jaron Phillips said emergency services were called to Ruawai College about 11.30am.

The fire service believed the wrong chemicals were mixed when trying to chlorinate the school pool.

A 100m cordon has been erected and one house evacuated.

One person has been treated for minor gas inhalation.
