The competition manager at the Commonwealth Games swimming centre in Delhi has assured swimmers that there is nothing wrong with the water in the pools.

The ABC reports an outbreak of gastric complaints among swimmers caused Commonwealth Games Federation president Mike Fennell to ask for the water to be tested.

Three Australian athletes have been diagnosed with gastroenteritis and more than a dozen swimmers have stomach complaints.

CNN reports more than 40 British swimmers have been brought down by a stomach bug.

However, swimming competition manager Kamlesh Nanavati says the water is clean.
