A high-profile lawyer is taking the government to court for slow action against abuse at the Christian community of Gloriavale.

Barrister Brian Henry has filed proceedings against Oranga Tamariki, the Department of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Social Development and Labour Inspectorate, after sending an explosive letter to the Prime Minister and other ministers calling for the West Coast commune to be shut down.

Two multi-agency committees, one launched in 2015 and the other in 2022, have been tasked with monitoring Gloriavale's actions.

Brian Henry says the members of those committees have let victims down.

Henry spoke to Corin Dann.
