The Fiji Women's Crisis Centre says it is appalled and saddened at the deaths of two young women in the past two weeks, allegedly at the hands of their partners.
It's coordinator, Shamima Ali, said the deaths were a tragic reminder that intimate partner violence was a bigger problem in communities than many people realised or acknowledged.
She said it was commendable that the government and police had acknowledged how big the problems were and have committed to addressing it.
But Ms Ali said to truly begin to eliminate violence against women, it should be everybody's concern.
The centre was urging all women in violent relationships to seek urgent help and it provides a 24-hour helpline.
