Specialist staffing numbers are being highlighted as a key contributor to New Zealand's struggle with fighting cancer.
In its first report the Cancer Control Agency, Te Aho o Te Kahu, pointed to an ageing cancer specialist workforce and the need to attract more trainees.
But the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists says the need is even more urgent than the report portrays.
