A heavy rain warning is now in force for Fiji's Western and Northern Viti Levu, Northern Vanua Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Yasawa and the Mamanuca group.

A flood warning is in force for all low lying areas along Rakiraki River including Rakiraki Town.

A Tropical Disturbance located close to Vanuatu has now been upgraded to a Tropical Depression.

The system poses no direct threat to Fiji but the associated cloud and rain will affect the group from today.

The Tropical Depression is moving South-South-East at 12km/hr.

The Nadi Weather Office warns people that localised heavy rain may lead to flash flooding in these areas.

The forecaster MetService describes the depression's potential to become a cyclone as 'moderate'.
