The police say they are interviewing the man believed to have been involved in a fatal hit-and-run-incident in Christchurch last Thursday.

Steffan Pearce-Loe was walking his two dogs across Gayhurst Road, just north of the bridge over the Avon River, when he was struck by a car and killed.

A detective spotted the car believed to have been involved in a driveway several kilometres away.

The car has damage consistent with being involved in the crash, and is now being forensically examined.

Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Cottam said decisions on possible charges had not yet been made.
