Police in Solomon Islands have confirmed that a boat used to carry some of the country's newly-elected MPs was shot at multiple times, hours before Tuesday's vote to elect a new Prime Minister.
In a statement, police say they can't confirm a motivation for the attack, but are giving the investigation the highest priority.
A number of MPs aligned with newly-elected Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare, retreated to an island off Honiara on Monday night ahead of the vote to avoid defection and further lobbying.
The boat was shot early this morning.
No one was injured
