Police received a report of a suspected firearm inside a vehicle outside the grounds about 8.30am.

Parliament security temporarily closed its doors to the public as a precaution.

The sole occupant of the vehicle was detained, and the vehicle searched, but a firearm was not located.

Police say there is no ongoing risk.
