A farm worker has died in Northland after the quad bike he was riding overturned.
Emergency services were called to the farm on Armstrong Road at Ruawai at about 5.30pm today, but could not save the 43-year-old man, who died at the scene.
"He's made a sharp turn, the bike has rolled and ended up on top of him ... in a drain," Sergeant Nicholas Wilson, of the Dargaville police, said.
"He has then drowned, unfortunately."
The man's next-of-kin are being informed, and both the police and Occupational Safety and Health are investigating the incident.
