Dunedin still counting votes in local body election

17:46 pm on 9 October 2010

Counting of local body election results is taking longer than expected in Dunedin because the city uses the Single Transferable Vote system.

Returning Officer Pam Jordan says the results will be out sometime on Saturday evening, but is unable to give a specific time.

Ms Jordan says late votes are now being counted.

Peter Chin is the incumbent mayor.
