A bushfire in Whangaroa this afternoon is considered suspicious.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand shift manager Lauren Sika said an investigator had been called in.
The final remains of the fire are being dampened down by Far North crews.
It reached 60 metres by 100 metres in size, and spread through steep terrain, this afternoon.
Firefighters were called just before 12.30pm. The blaze was under control soon after.
Four appliances, two support vehicles, and a helicopter were at the scene.
Crews came from Kāeo, Kerikeri, Mangōnui and Kaikohe.
