The world golf number one Tiger Woods has cast doubt over his participation in next month's US Open after withdrawing from the Players Championship in Florida with a neck injury.

Woods withdrew from the final round suggesting he's been suffering from a neck injury since well before his well-publicised comeback at last month's Masters.

Woods says he may have a bulging disk which could put him in doubt for the US Open starting at Pebble Beach mid June.

The tournament was won by South African Tim Clarke, who surged through the field with a final round five-under-par 67 to win by one stroke from Australian Robert Allenby.

American Lucas Glover was another stroke back in third, while third round leader Lee Westwood dropped to tie for fourth after a two over par 74.
