Unseeded New Zealander Kiranpal Pannu has lost his opening opening match at the ASB Tennis Classic in Auckland going down in straight sets to eighth seeded Australian Max Purcell.
Purcell won both sets 6-4, 6-4.
Two-time champion Roberto Bautista-Agut also lost his first round match beaten by fellow Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena.
