Vote counting is underway after the people of Tuvalu went to the polls today to elect a new 15 person parliament.
The election was originally scheduled for the 19th March but was put off after cyclone Pam hit the country resulting in widespread flooding and destruction.
The electoral commission says counting should be complete by late tonight.
The two seats on Nukufetau had already returned the two sitting MPs - the caretake prime minister, Enele Sopoaga and the caretaker natural resources minister, Elisala Pita - after they were unchallenged.
