A lawyer has told the High Court in Auckland that a man charged with murdering his wife and daughter is not fit to stand trial.
Farhat Rana Malik and her adult daughter Sidra Noor Malik were found dead with stab wounds at a house in the west Auckland suburb of Ranui in May.
Ishrat Malik, 55, made a brief appearance in the the High Court in Auckland on Wednesday morning.
His lawyer, Paul Borich, told the court he had a report showing his client was not fit to stand trial.
Mr Malik was remanded in custody until later this month when he is due back for a mental health hearing.
