Police have arrested a man who pointed a gun at an officer in West Auckland this morning.
The incident occurred after officers pursued two dirt bikes which failed to stop in Glen Eden just after 10.30am.
They caught up to one rider on Brunner Road who pointed a gun at an officer after being told not to leave the area.
The man went into a nearby house while the police armed themselves and called for back up.
He has since been taken into custody and a loaded firearm has been found at the scene.
Superintendent Naila Hassan said the man's actions were completely unacceptable and charges would be laid.
Less than two months ago Constable Matthew Hunt was shot dead in the same area of Auckland.
