An alpine rescue team has reached an injured woman and her climbing companion on Mt Taranaki early this morning.
Police were called at 2.30 yesterday to reports a 39-year-old woman had injured her arm while descending the mountain.
A rescue team reached the pair shortly after midnight and helped them to Syme Hut where they stayed overnight.
The Taranaki Rescue Helicopter winched a paramedic to the hut earlier in the evening but was not able to reach the injured woman due to bad weather.
The police say they will assess if they can make another attempt the get the injured woman and her climbing partner off the mountain this morning.
