More than 1000 households are without power in Auckland's North Shore after a car hit a power pole.

Fire and Emergency said two people were rescued following the crash on Lake Road, near Hororata Road in Hauraki, just before 6am.

Vector confirmed an outage was affecting the suburbs of Belmont, Hauraki and Takapuna.

Supply was expected to be restored between 6pm and 7pm.

One person was in a critical condition and two others were in a moderate condition, and one had minor injuries, police said.
