Canterbury competition targets feral cats, but SAFE not happy

A North Canterbury hunting competition is encouraging kids to shoot feral cats - and whoever bags the most between now and the end of June - wins a $250 prize.

The SPCA is investigating the death of a cat in North Canterbury, that died yesteday after being short with an air rifle.

It's not certain if the cat's death was linked to the competition.
