MetService says there is a risk of severe hail with very large hailstones in eastern Otago tomorrow afternoon and evening, and people should look out for weather warnings.
Forecaster Gerard Barrow said currently the risk of severe hail tomorrow was low, but it could be upgraded tomorrow to severe.
He said hail of around 20 millimetres in diameter was possible in one or two places tomorrow, although most was expected to be 10 to 20mm.
Mr Barrow said it was expected to come in association with a southerly change bringing showers.
