Aucklanders are being warned of potential travel disarray Tuesday morning as strong wind threatens to close the Harbour Bridge.
MetService is predicting wind gusts of up to 110km/h between 2am and 9am making conditions for crossing unsafe.
Transport agency Waka Kotahi said it may have to halt travel across the bridge for several hours during rush-hour traffic.
It is advising all drivers to plan ahead, and for motorcyclists and high-sided vehicles to stay away altogether while wind warnings are in place.
They should instead use the Western Ring on state highways 16 and 18.
Auckland Transport said disruption to its ferry services and bus routes over the Harbour Bridge was likely.
