Parliament has risen for 2008, with a rousing adjournment debate on Thursday afternoon.
The Government warned of economic challenges ahead, while the Opposition attacked the Government's decision to rush through a number of new bills under urgency.
Deputy Prime Minister Bill English told the House the National Party is committed to the new governing arrangements with the Maori Party, Act and United Future.
However, he warned the House will face challenges in 2009, with unemployment forecast to rise to 6.5%.
Labour Party leader Phil Goff lambasted the Government over its decision to rush through a number of bills in the past two weeks.
Mr Goff says workers' rights have been stripped away by legislation giving small employers the right to sack new workers within 90 days of employment.
Parliament is scheduled to resume on 10 February.
