Laneway Festival have announced the much-anticipated lineup for next year’s event, which is returning to Silo Park on Auckland Anniversary Day.
Hudson Mohawke, Chvrches, Grimes, Battles and Beach House will all make their return to New Zealand on February 1, while fans will also be treated to first-time visits from Shamir, The Internet, Purity Ring, Vince Staples and Thundercat.
Local acts on the bill include Silicon, The All Seeing Hand, Lontalius, Groeni, Leisure, Scuba Diva, REIN, Nadia Reid, Baynk, and a reformed High Dependency Unit.
Laneway first came to the city back in 2010 where it was held in Britomart. It moved to Aotea Square the following year before settling into Silo Park in 2012.
Last month it was suggested that the event could move to Auckland Domain for 2016, but Laneway co-promoter Manolo Echave has said he was told by a senior council event organiser that it was a no-go.
“We have been kneecapped basically,” he said earlier this year.
The festival was on the move as work was set to begin on a redevelopment of Silo Park.
That’s now changed. Co-promoter Mark Kneebone said that over the past couple of months, Laneway organisers had been working with the Silo Park team and council organisation, Panuku Development Auckland, to work on making the 2016 event “the best yet”.
Tickets for the event go on sale 9am Wednesday September 30 via Ticketek with a presale for Visa cardholders available from 9am Friday September 25 until Sunday September 27.
