A former New Caledonian president, Philippe Gomes, says France will have to report to the UN from next month about the decolonisation process of French Polynesia.
Mr Gomes, who is a member of the French National Assembly, has questioned how French diplomats could let it happen that French Polynesia was reinscribed on the decolonisation list.
Since 1986, the list has included New Caledonia.
He says Solomon Islands as the resolution's sponsor showed troubling determination, given its internal troubles that forced an international intervention.
Mr Gomes says the other two sponsors were Nauru, which is known for money-laundering, and Tuvalu, an island of 12,000 totally peaceful souls.
