Tropical storm upgraded to Tropical Cyclone says Fiji's met service

Fiji's Meteorological Service has upgraded a Tropical low that's been hovering over Vanuatu to a Tropical Cyclone.

Cyclone Tam is a category one system moving South-South/East away from Tanna Island towards New Zealand.

NZ met service forecaster Luis Fernandes said it's likely to lose tropical cyclone status Wednesday before reaching Aotearoa.

The Fiji met service has issued a disturbance advisory and a international marine warning regarding tropical cyclone Tam.
