The Solomon Islands Culture Division will soon build a new National Art Gallery funded by the Solomon Islands Government through its Tourism sector.

The Director of Culture Division, Robert Au, says ground works to build the National Art Gallery will begin this year.

He says the new National Art Gallery is one of the main priorities of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Mr Au added that the new Art Gallery will also be one of the venues for accommodation during the South Pacific Arts Festival in 2012 which Solomon Islands will host.

Meanwhile, the Tourism division will soon utilize cultural promotion through the current media outlets in the country.

He said the promotion of culture through media is part of their work program to look at ways to enable people in Solomon Islands to see the importance of our culture.
