Commuters will be able to travel from one end of Wellington's Molesworth St to the other from tomorrow, with the reduction of the cordon around a quake-damaged building.
The cordon has been in place around the building at 61 Molesworth St, closing part of the road, since the day after the magnitude 7.8 earthquake on 14 November.
The building is still being demolished.
The cordon will be reduced from 7am tomorrow, opening the right-hand lane of the street for cars and pedestrians.
Full access to, and occupation of, numbers 100, 102 and 118 Molesworth St and the internal section at the rear of the Wellington Cathedral will be allowed.
A smaller cordon will remain, blocking the lane closest to the demolition site.
Weekend trains to Upper Hutt cancelled
Meanwhile, trains between Wellington and Upper Hutt have been cancelled this weekend to allow remedial work on a quake-damaged footbridge.
The bridge over the tracks near the Ava station was damaged in last month's quake.
Buses will run instead of trains.
