Police in the Vanuatu capital have warned the public to stay in their homes at night after 12 high risk prisoners escaped from the Port Vila Correctional Centre.
Police say the 12 escaped at night, the latest of a series of jailbreaks from the main correctional facility over the last three years.
Only last month, seven of them had escaped after overpowering the security guards at the prison's entrance.
Police and Mobile Force Officers are reported to be out in force to recapture them.
