Five teenagers have been arrested after a burglary in South Auckland.
The group allegedly broke into a Takanini supermarket in the early hours of this morning and stole several items before fleeing.
Police pursued a car along the Southwestern Motorway, with the Eagle helicopter in tow.
Officers described the car driving recklessly and dangerously along the motorway, before it was spiked on Grande Vue Road in Manurewa.
Counties Manukau south area commander, Inspector Joe Hunter, said the incident was disappointing and had put the community at risk.
Police arrested the five boys, who were aged between 14 and 18 years old.
They are due to appear in the Manukau Youth Court today.
