Tahiti have taken out the Under-18 boys' IHF Oceania Trophy in the Cook Islands.

They secured the title before the final day of competition.

The pivotal match was in their penultime one when Tahiti claimed their fourth straight win, beating the Cook Islands 47-19.

In the under-20 competition, Australia celebrated a fourth straight victory, 29-18 against New Zealand to take the title.

The results of the tournament places South Africa second overall and the Kiwis third.

Pearls second in top-class netball tournament

Fiji had to settle for second place in netball's Nations Cup held in Singapore.

The Pearls went down 65 to 37 in the final against Botswana.

They had recorded four wins (against Singapore, Malaysia, Ireland and Singapore A) and a loss - to Botswana - in the round robin stage to make the final.

Goal shooter Lydia Panapasa was named Fiji's most valuable player.

Coach Unaisi Rokoura said the tournament was a good experience with the World Cup looming next year.

The 15th-ranked team is the tournament's highest-ranked side but had fielded a young squad with only two players with more than 14 caps. Botswana are ranked No.31 in the world.

She said the girls improved as they went along, and was impressed with how the Pearls moved the ball.

Rokoura said this is the first time some of the girls are playing against teams with such a different style and this is what they're expecting at the World Cup.

Fijiana unveils 2023 squad

Fijiana Drua has announced its squad for the 2023 Super W Championship season as it looks to defend its title.

Chief Executive John O'Connor said the 42-strong squad consists of local players who have been actively training during the off-season and those who were scouted during the women's provincial competition last year.

Nine new players are part of the extended squad.

O'Connor said the team is now focused on those involved in local competitions and will consider opportunities for overseas-based players in January.

He said the responsibility is on the coaches and players to train and prepare a strong side.
