Skull and bones found on shoreline

15:01 pm on 11 March 2014

Police are investigating the discovery of a human skull on Nelson's shoreline.

The skull and other human bones were found below the high tide mark on the coastal edge of the Nelson Airport walkway on Sunday.

Police are working with the Department of Conservation to identify the remains. They say they are most likely to be historic and unearthed by recent large tides.
