Australia has announced assistance to Fiji's relief efforts after Cyclone Harold moved across Kadavu.

Australian High Commissioner to Fiji, John Feakes, said his government has pledged $US215,000 to help with the immediate emergency operations on the ground in Fiji.

Fiji Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama said Kadavu felt the brunt of the storm and he urged everyone to remain indoors until the all-clear was given.

Mr Bainimarama says heavy rain and flooding will continue even as Harold leaves the country today.

"I am pleading with everyone to stay out of floodwaters. Keep your children out of floodwaters. These waters are deadly, unpredictable and can carry debris that can maim or kill."
